On 17 March 2016, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Belarus invited experts on gender equality, prevention and counteracting domestic violence, including mass media, who writes about this issue, to the documentary play "Seven". The play was followed by the panel discussion on the joint efforts in counteracting domestic violence in Belarus.

The stage of Yanka Kupala National Academic Theatre for the second time became the meeting place of the key stakehoders involved into the process of combatting gender-based violence in Belarus: experts, non-governmental organizations, representatives of the international community, as well as ministries and departments of Belarus. Public faces of the UNFPA information campaign against gender-based violene also attended the reading: thai box world champions Andrei Kulebin and Vitaly Gurkov, «BATE» Belarusian football team player Vitali Rodionov, Belarusian gymnast, multiple world and Europe champion Melitina Staniouta and TV host Anna Bond.

The reading was done by the representatives of the Supreme Court, the General Prosecutor's office, Ministry of internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, NGOs working with the issue, mass media and UNFPA in Belarus.

Play "Seven" is a work of documentary theater written by seven American female playwrights based on interviews with seven women leaders from different countries of the world. The story of each women is a call to end gender inequality and violence against women, whether economic, sexual, physical or psychological.

The purpose of the play "Seven" is to highlight the issue of gender-based violence and to launch public discussion on how we can end it . The producer of the play "Seven" is a Swedish actress, writer, and consultant Hedda Krausz Sjögren. The authors of the play are Paula Cizmar, Catherine Filloux, Gail Kriegel, Carol K. Mack, Ruth Margraff, Anna Deavere Smith and Susan Yankowitz.

The performance of the play "Seven" in Belarus was organized by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Belarus, the Swedish Embassy in Belarus and the Swedish Institute in Stockholm.

This project is intended to initiate a public discussion on women's rights and gender-based violence. The performance of the play "Seven" was opened by the second Secretary of the Embassy of Sweden in Belarus Mr. Magnus Satterberg.
