On the 8th of December in the framework of the worldwide orange campaign against violence towards women and girls, led in Belarus by United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in partnership with UNDPUNICEF and IOM, demonstration of Die Fremde movie (2010, Germany), raising the problem of gender-based violence, took place at Pobeda cinema.

Demonstration of Die Fremde movie was also a part of the UN in Belarus launched Human Rights Film Festival ‘Human dignity, equality and justice’.

Before the film show the viewers watched short social movies with Max Mirnyi and  Alexei Kalyuzhny, who stand against violence towards women and children. Pobeda cinema visitors also met UNFPA representatives and volunteers, who introduced them to the orange campaign and the importance of increased publicity to domestic violence in Belarus. All guests got orange campaign souvenirs, one of them is the symbol of the campaign – orange ribbon with the inscription ‘Stop violence’.

Women put on an orange ribbon as a wow to seek help and report gender-based violence. Men ware orange ribbon as a wow to not to act as aggressors in relation to women.
