 A workshop for journalists as part of the programme "Health of the Nation and Demographic Security of the Republic of Belarus" was held in Hrodna.  

The Project "Support to the implementation of the national programme of demographic security of the Republic of Belarus" funded by UNFPA and the Government of the Russian Federation organized on November 4 an advocacy workshop for journalists in Hrodna. It's primary goal was to identify key topics and types of publicity for the National Programme "Health of the nation and demographic security of the Republic of Belarus". The format of the event was a moderated dialogue of journalists, representatives of government bodies and organizations, and experts.

Marina Artyomenko, Deputy Head of the Department of Population, Gender and Family Policy of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus, presented the main provisions of the Programme "Health of the nation and demographic security of the Republic of Belarus" adopted in the spring of 2016.

Marianna Sokolova, Manager of the project "Support to the implementation of the national programme of demographic security of the Republic of Belarus" noted, "Demography as a topic requires a thoughtful and a responsible attitude of the media. We think that it is necessary to work continuously so that we have a pool of journalists who could serve as experts, and our workshop has become yet another step to this end".      

The workshop was also attended by:

Andrei Strizhak, Head of the Health Directorate of Hrodna Oblast Executive Committee (Programme "Health of the nation and demographic security of the Republic of Belarus": innovations in the health system").

Alexander Nadeiko, Deputy Head of Directorate for Citizenship and Migration of Hrodna Oblast Executive Committee ("Migration: how programme activities will change the situation").

Tatyana Babuk, Head of Directorate for Demographic Statistics of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus ("Data about the demographic situation in the Republic of Belarus: official sources").

The workshop was attended by over 20 persons - representatives of oblast and city media, district press, correspondents of major enterprises based in Hrodna.
