Teenage girls from rural town of Ivie took part in the master-classes on street reporting and museology within UNFPA ‘Investing into teenage girls’ campaign.

On the 7th of July UNFPA Belarus CO team visited a rural town of Ivie, Grodno oblast, together with pubic professionals (‘Mentors’) in order to deliver master-classes for local teenage girls aged 12-15 years old. Anna Bond, TV-host, and Nikita Monich, research fellow of the National Arts Museum, conducted master-classes on street reporting and museology.

Together with Anna girls prepared a reportage on cultural and historical highlights in Ivie. Nikita shared with participants the modern concept of museum and told why work at museum is his vocation. Together they took a tour over Ivie Museum of national cultures to discuss possible ways of its development and sustainability. Mentors came to Ivie to inform teenage girls from rural areas about the benefits of receiving education and personal development.

The event was held in partnership with the Executive Committee of Ivie distict, Ivie Museum of National Cultures and Ivie Children's Library in the framework of UNFPA in Belarus public campaign “Investing into the future of teenage girls”.

Respecting the rights and realization of the potential of the teenage girls became the central topic of the 11th of July – World Population Day and 20th of October – launch of the UNFPA World Population Report 2016.The campaign promotes the idea of investing into education and well-being of teenage girls (10-15 years old) with special focus on empowering girls from rural areas.

Ivie is a small rural type town in Hrodna oblast with around 7000 inhabitants. There are two schools in Ivie (Gymnasium № 1 and Ivie Secondary school).
