An online population statistics database of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus is now accessible.
The database was developed as part of the registered technical assistance project "Assistance to the capacity building of the national statistical system in terms of the acquisition, analysis and dissemination of gender relevant population data".
The database provides access to a vast body of demographic statistics for everyone interested. Statistical indicators are historical data for several years, as well as real-time quarterly statistical data. The system ensures the access of users to demographic data in an online mode; it provides a convenient and effective tool for the visual representation of information in the form of tables, graphs, diagrams and maps.
"Providing open access to demographic data via the Internet will allow keeping track of the demographic dynamics, using data for decision making and programme design; and it will also allow for a more accurate estimate of the results obtained. It is also important that the information will be comprehensible and accessible for schoolchildren and students, and they will be able to use this database for research", said Elena Kasko, Assistant Representative, UN Population Fund in Belarus.
The database is accessible in Russian and English.
