The start of the orange movement in Belarus was marked on 25th of November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) led orange ribbon campaign which was conducted jointly with Belarusian Road Police, NGO Belarusian Young Women Christian Association and State owned territorial centers for social services.

Orange ribbon with the inscription STOP VIOLENCE would become a symbol of the campaign. Every men driver would get an orange ribbon to pin it on the car or on his coat and give a wow to never silence and never participate in violence against women and girls.

During 16 days of activism on ending violence against women in Belarus orange ribbon would be presented not only to men. Any person willing to support the campaign can pin an orange ribbon to his/her coat and state that he/she is against violence towards women and girls. Women pin orange ribbon to show that theн never would keep silence about violence exercised towards them or their relatives and friends.

The participants of the campaign were informed about national hotline for the victims of domestic violence (8-801-100-8-801) and about website www.ostanovinasilie.org, which for 3 years already is a reference point for information and consultation for those who suffered from domestic violence in Belarus.

Orange ribbon campaign took place in Minsk, Barisau, Hrodna, Smarhon and Brest.
