On January 29, 2016 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, held a traditional meeting with the Leadership of the UN Country Team, headed by the UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Representative, Sanaka Samarasinha.

The United Nations Population Fund country office was represented at the meeting by the Assistant Representative of UNFPA in Belarus, Elena Kasko.

The participants exchanged opinions on the state and prospects for cooperation between Belarus and the United Nations Organization.

The Head of the Foreign Service noted that due to the approval of the UN Development Assistance Framework for Belarus for 2016-2020, it is important to apply joint efforts to fill the Program in with the projects of technical aid that are of high priority from the perspective of the Belarusian national interests.

The program is the second document defining a joint strategy for the organizations of the UN system in Belarus. The document focuses on the four most important areas: sustainable economic development; inclusive, responsive and accountable governance; environmental protection and sustainable environmental management based on the principles of green economy; sustainable development of human capital: health, education, social inclusion and protection, comprehensive post-Chernobyl development.
