Non-governmental organization “Centre for informational support of public initiatives “The Third sector” in partnership with the Office of the registered association “Deutscher Volkshochschul-Verband e.V.” (Germany) in Belarus hold an international conference “Increasing Intellectual, Physical and Social Participation of Senior Citizens” on March 29-30, 2013. During the conference this topic will be discussed by experts, scholars and practitioners from non-governmental and state-run organizations of Belarus, Poland, Russia, Lithuania, Moldova and Ukraine.
Tatyana Haplichnik, Programme Analyst, UNFPA in Belarus, will participate in the discussion of the main trends of work aiming to increase senior citizens’ participation and socialization in Belarus and the neighbouring countries.
The key issues for discussion during the conference will be as follows:
· challenges for society posed by population ageing;
· main trends of work to increase senior citizens’ participation and socialization in Belarus and the neighbouring countries;
· intersectoral cooperation in addressing the issues related to population ageing;
· training specialists providing education for senior citizens;
· exchange of experience and establishing partnerships in the area of senior citizens’ participation and socialization.
