An "Innovative Day" aimed to develop ideas for strengthening adolescent and youth reproductive health was held on September 9, 2017 by UNFPA in Belarus, with the support of facilitators and volunteers. More than 50 participants responded to the invitation of UNFPA: representatives of creative professions (musicians, writers, actors, TV and radio presenters), employees of state organizations, media workers, businessmen (people who are not directly involved in working with youth), youth and adolescents.
The aim of the event was to generate, collect and prioritize ideas for strengthening adolescent sexual and reproductive health.
In addition, a group of teenagers came to the event and answered the audience's questions about sexual and reproductive health of youth.
The trends, threats and opportunities for working with sexual and reproductive health of adolescents and young people in Belarus were described by Dr. Oksana Teslova, Associate Professor of the Department of General Practice at the Faculty of Retraining and Advanced Studies of the Belarusian State Medical University. Participants broke up into small groups and started generating ideas. With the help of facilitators they've selected the 16 best ideas and presented them from the stage to experts and all present.
All ideas were entered in a special table for voting with the help of beans.
At the end of the event Elena Kasko, UNFPA representative in Belarus, expressed her gratitude and outlined further prospects for implementing the proposed ideas.
